  The Management Group

The Payamino Project is a unique collaboration between the community of San Jose de Payamino, Aalborg Zoo and the Universities of Glasgow and Manchester. The project is currently going through the process of becoming a registered UK charity and a Fundacion sin Lucre in Ecuador.

The management group functions on three interlinked levels. In Denmark, Aalborg Zoo provide the original impetus and financial backing to the community and their sustainable development plans. In the UK there is a board of directors who run the UK charity and steer the research and conservation direction. In Ecuador the project employs an Ecuadorian Director and each year has 2-3 long term voluntary project co-ordinators, from the UK, who live and work with the community directly. Within the community the project employs a project representative and works with a number of guides. These levels work closely with the project co-ordinators and all decisions about the project are made by consensus vote at regular community meetings.
